200 people and dozens of sponsors and partners have contributed to the success of the 2018 edition

Carpathian MTB Epic 2018 is an event open to both professional and amateur cyclists in the country and abroad. During the 2nd edition of the event, the professional riders’ skills were tested during the 4-day EPIC race, which included a 10-km Prologue and 3 daily stages, XCM format, each on a distinct route, with an individual distance of 60 km, and all having the Start/Finish set at Cheile Gradistei – Fundata Resort. The cumulative elevation gain of the Prologue and of the 3 stages was 9,000 m.

Among the international and national champions were: Ariane Lüthi (Switzerland) and Peeter Pruus (Estonia), winners of the 2018 edition of Carpathian MTB Epic; Jovana Crnogorac (Serbia) and Katazina Sosna (Lithuania), who won the 2nd and the 3rd places on the podium; Marek Rauchfuss (Czech Republic) and Frans Claes (Belgium), who occupied the 2nd and the 3rd places this year; the Olympic athlete Vitor Gamito (Portugal); Janka Keseg Števková (Slovakia), the winner of the 1st edition of the Carpathians’ competition; Márton Blazsó, who won the 3rd place last year in 4-day EPIC race, Veronika Cseh, Regina Schmidel and Andras Parti (Hungary); Hans Comyn, Event Ambassador, and Rob Haeselvelde Vanden (Belgium), Gustav Larsson (Sweden), winner of 2 silver medals at at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and at the World Championships in 2009; Lejla Tanović and Ivan Širić (Bosnia and Herzegovina); Filip Adel and Jan Jobanek (Czech Republic); Riccardo Chiarini (Italy); Cory Wallace (Canada); Celina Carpinteiro (Portugal); Andrea Juhásová, Martin Haring and Jakob Kurty (Slovakia); Ramses Bekkenk (The Netherlands); Daniele Troesch and Frédéric Gombert (France); Miguel Angel Garcia Marti (Spain), Europe’s Ultramarathon MTB winner – Master 50; Pirmin Eisenbarth, Maximilian Maier, Daniel Gathof, Michael Fuehrmann, Jakob Hartmann and Pirmin Sigel (Germany); Miroda Otto (South Africa); Wolfgang Krenn (Austria) etc.

The organization team, the collaborators, the volunteers and the special intervention teams included more than 200 persons, and the services were appreciated as being one of the top among the international multi-stage races. Among the members of Organizing Committee of Carpathian MTB Epic are: Joko Vogel, the world-renowned Swiss multi-stage and ultra-cycling event organizer of Perskindol Swiss Epic and TORTOUR, and the co-organizer of UCI Cyclo-cross World Championship set for 2020 in Switzerland; and Günter Wagner, CEO of Hitouch, and owner of Tractalis, the Live tracking system and service for events.
